Route 93 Event : Free Service and Flyby

Route 93  |   Event   |   History  |  Gallery

The free service will operate between Putney Heath, Morden, North Cheam, Epsom and Dorking, with the route running partly in sections. Buses will run about every 5-10 minutes (10-20 minutes north of Wimbledon and south of Epsom) – please see the timetable here (northbound) and here (southbound). Most journeys will be operated by heritage buses carrying a conductor, who will be able to assist with boarding and alighting (just like the old days!). No need to book, just turn up at any bus stop* along the route and put your hand out to stop the bus. Once on board, when you want to alight, ring the bell by pulling the cord (downstairs) or pressing the ‘push once’ button at the top of the stairs upstairs. Or tell the conductor and he will do this for you. And it’s all FREE!

[* along the current 93, at split bus stops, the buses will serve the stops displaying route 93]

Between Putney Heath and North Cheam, the route runs within the London Low Emission Zone, so more modern (post-1972) preserved buses will generally operate the section south of North Cheam.

A free FEEDER SERVICE will operate as route 470, departing West Croydon at 09:45, returning from Dorking 16:09. More details here.

In parallel with the free service, a road run (‘flyby’) of heritage buses will take place for buses that do not wish to operate in service; these will not be displaying the route number 93.

More details of buses taking part will be available in due course. Bus and coach owners wishing to participate are still welcome, please email for details.
