The inaugural event of any Bus season is the London Bus Preservation Trust’s Spring Gathering being held again in the grounds of our new home, Brooklands.

Transport for London has designated 2014 as “The Year of the Bus” Year of the Bus roundel

celebrating two major bus anniversaries RT75 and Routemaster 60.

The Spring Gathering will celebrate RT75 as part of a weekend of events.

12th April, About 15 RTs will be recreating Route 22 between Piccadilly Circus and Homerton and you can ride on them free of charge. RT1, the first of the family, will also be in public service for the first time since 1945; a fare of £10 per journey applies to this supplementary service. These vehicles will make their way down to Brooklands in the evening to be ready for service and display on 13th. More details on RT75 here.

13th April, As usual, at Spring Gathering there will be buses new and old running frequently on Route 462,

In the afternoon there will be a parade of RTs, and a further opportunity to ride on RT1.

There will be the usual huge selection of stalls and a collectors market and, subject to operational conditions, visitors will be able to experience a ride on our horse bus.

For the children, there will be a round-about and, on the Mezzanine in the Museum, Punch & Judy.

Over 40 RT-family buses and other vehicles built on the AEC Regent III chassis have booked to attend. Representatives of all members of the RT Family of vehicles will be displayed and some unusual variations, and not just buses!

Spring Gathering is a Premium Event.

We are expecting a large turnout of buses to kick start this unique year of anniversaries commemorating the two iconic Buses that plied the streets of London and its countryside for decades and still are!
