RF19 now acquired for Museum Collection

.

Just over a month after it arrived on loan, 1951 “sightseeing” RF19 has now passed to Museum ownership, thanks to the efforts of Chairman Peter Duplock and a generous offer from the vehicle’s owner to accept a small down payment and the remainder of the purchase price in 2013. An appeal for the balance of the purchase price and the sum needed to restore the body, inside and out, to display condition will be mounted next year. Around £20,000 will need to be raised in total and the appeal will be launched as soon as the RM140 appeal comes to a close. Meanwhile, if any Member would like to donate now, all contributions will be most welcome and will be put into a ring-fenced fund for RF19. Cheques, payable to LBPT Ltd, should be sent to:

RF19 Appeal, London Bus Museum, Cobham Hall, Brooklands Road, WEYBRIDGE KT13 0QN

RF19 will be remembered by many as the coach owned by our President, Colin Curtis for a considerable number of years. The current vendor has invested a considerable sum in a complete mechanical overhaul, new tyres etc and, once it has been re-trimmed inside and received an external repaint, it will make a fine addition to the Collection and a superb partner for RFW6 when that vehicle’s restoration has also been completed.
