The major Refresh of the London Bus Museum has begun.
Work started on a small scale with volunteers moving curatorial and donated items to their new homes. The aim is to clear the interior in order to gain access to all parts and thus some buses are now temporarily parked on the Finishing Straight. The removal of the large display screens allows for a panoramic view of the Museum not seen in the last ten years. Some buses are parked in close formation in the “Modern Hall”. The space created will allow the contractors to begin dismantling the display screens, some of which to be reassembled elsewhere.
At present, the Museum is a cavernous, if not sad sight but almost ready for the next stage of the refresh program to begin.
